STBQ38YR

The S.E. Shires STBQ38YR contrabass trombone delivers remarkable depth, clarity, and control in a responsive and balanced instrument. Featuring independent F/D/Bb/Ab tuning and precision Rotax valves, the STBQ38YR offers an even, predictable response with effortless valve transitions across all registers. Its .590” bore and 10.5” detachable-flare yellow or gold brass bell produce a rich, resonant tone with focused projection and a vibrant core, while the detachable-flare design enhances both flexibility and portability.

The European tuning system favors independent valve usage, allowing players to avoid extended positions and navigate technical passages with equal use of valve and slide technique. This configuration offers exceptional agility for modern repertoire and complex orchestral writing. Designed for large ensemble, orchestral, and solo performance, the STBQ38YR delivers the power expected of a contrabass trombone while retaining the balance, refinement, and mechanical excellence characteristic of S.E. Shires instruments.
