Announcing the S.E. Shires TruBore Valve!
(patent pending)

That's right, it's finally here…an exciting new valve option for medium- and large-bore tenor and bass trombones designed by the S.E. Shires Co.

Realizing how much he loved playing a straight trombone, Steve and the Shires design team set out to produce a valve that would capture its easy-blowing, evenly-responding characteristics as closely as possible. The result is the TruBore valve.

The TruBore's defining characteristic is a straight tube through the center, which dramatically affects the response on the open side of the instrument. Gently curving ports through the back of the valve allow a turn of approximately 60 degrees and quick, smooth lever action. The feel from the open horn to the engaged valve is amazingly continuous, with virtually no change of resistance.

The TruBore is not intended to replace the excellent rotary and axial flow valves we already offer, but simply to provide a third option. Because the complex porting of the TruBore requires a longer production time, it is priced slightly higher than our other valves.
