S.E. Shires 419 Orchestral C Trumpet

The Shires Model 419 is the product of a fruitful design collaboration with David Bilger, Principal Trumpet of the Philadelphia Orchestra. This trumpet features a uniquely balanced heavyweight Model 4 bell. This results in a big sound, easy response; and an ideal balance of breadth, clarity, depth and projection.

• "4" bell flare, one-piece yellow brass, balanced heavyweight
• "W1BH" leadpipe, open and free-blowing, stable yet flexible, .351" venturi
• "W" tuning slide, strong core, presence of sound, and distinct attack
• .462-bore, standard-weight, 2-piece valve cluster with yellow brass balusters

"Mr Bilger is internationally known not only as a one of the finest orchestral Principal  trumpet players of one of the worlds’ premier symphony orchestras, but also as one of the great solo trumpet players today.   David gave us a “wish list” of attributes he would like to see in a new C trumpet.  Getting the right sound was paramount.  I think we were able to achieve a sound he prefers even to the classic C trumpet he has played for many, many years.  In addition,  the Shires model 419 C trumpet has far superior intonation and even response  when compared to classic C trumpets."
